The Breathing Chair is a project by Tatung University Department of Industrial Design graduate, Yu-Ying Wu. She continued Taiwan’s tradition of design excellence, winning a red dot design award for her “breathing” chair. The unique chair is inspired by plant cells. When a person sits on it, the chair collapses into a familiar shape, but when at rest, it resembles a block of airy tofu. A curious. playful design that is a great conversation starter.Wu claims that its innovative design allows the chair to adjust to the user’s weight and posture. Wu said that the chair is made of high-density foam plastic that is 100 percent environmentally-friendly.

Artist and designer Olli Erkkila recently created this amazing bicycle called ‘Forkless’. he design this cycle for his graduation project at the Institute of Design in Lahti. He created this unique and interesting bicycle dubbed the Forkless Cruiser.

The Spaghetti Lounge Chair and Ottoman from PIE, handmade of liana vine skin and rattan frame, this piece is a functional work of art.

The multi-functional piece serves as a trivet, a spaghetti measure, and a counter top decoration when not in use. The Noooodle is a chrome trivet with a twist. It quite literally is twisted; twisted in such away that it creates loops that measure 1,2, 3 or 4 potions of spaghetti.

Pablo Reinoso has created this bench being partly a normal bench and partly spaghetti. And the result is rather amazing.

Two pieces of bent polymer fused into closed loops are joined to a metal base to form the “Toeloop Chair.” Mario Stadelmann, a Swiss-born London-based designer, is the man behind the vision.

They may not be edible, but these noodle-inspired designer chairs certainly are artistically drool-worthy.

This flower inspired Bloom chair is designed by Kenneth Cobonpue. Bloom chair is spectacular, it really looks like a flower and still looks comfortable. It is created from microfiber stitched overtop resin with a steel base. The Bloom, one of Kenneth Cobonpue’s newest designs, has just won the Coup de Coeur (Best Product) presented by HOME Magazine at the Maison et Objet 2009.

Prickly pair chairs are unique design by valentina glez wohlers mexican born london based designer. The chairs juxtapose mexican and european aesthetics, incorporating the formal design elements and quirks of both to create a cultural blend. The Nopal cactus symbolizes Mexican heritage and national pride. The Miesrolo Chair by Uros Vitas is made of wood sections strategically placed on synthetic elastomer. The result is a cantilevered chair–that rolls up like sushi–which possesses the strength to support a grown human being.

Since its first appearance, the Up series, designed in 1969, has been one of the most outstanding expressions of design.

The Paddy Chair is described by designer Nick Melville as “a comfy chair for nutters.” As you might have guessed, Melville’s inspiration for the piece is the classic padded cell. The enclosed shape is intended to promote a sense of safety and security for the user and offer a place where one can relax in peace and quiet.

The Burst Chair is the creation of young Brittish designer. Oliver Tilbury has won some awards for the Burst Chair.

This unique chair’s vision came from plucking the petals of a flower during an idealistic moment. The contour of the 2 remaining petals gave form to the chair and confirmed that even asymmetrically, nature is beautifully balanced!Ther is a wood version and a metal version.

Vasa Intestina, the first version was created in 2007, by Lisa Jones. The chair is part of the Symbiosis chair series. It doesn’t look too comfortable, but it has a nice design.

The Tank Chair was inspired by it’s builder working at a machine rental store. It looks like it would be pretty easy to move around your patio or deck, as long as you don’t need to move it laterally.

The Cabbage Chair was created by Nendo for the the XXIst Cetury Man exhibition curated by Issey Miyake to commemorate the first anniversary of 21_21 Design Sight in Roppongi, Tokyo. The chair is made entirely out of industrial paper.

The Rocking Wheel Chair by Mathias Koehler also made it to the list. It’s futuristic alright. However, it appears to take up a lot of space and lacks arm support.
